The lightly hammered handle on this heavy gauge sterling silver cheese knife contrasts beautifully with the smooth surface of the blade.  The sharp silver blade was forged by hammering a thick blank of sterling silver sheet and then polished to a high shine mirror finish. The traditional silversmith hammering makes both the blade and handle very strong.
